Workshop will cover how to use the basic net card blocks (bodice, skirt and sleeve) to create a dress block. Also dart manipulation techniques which will introduce methods to create style lines and design ideas using pleats, gathers, panels and much more! Would be beneficial to have completed the 2-day Introduction to Pattern Cutting – Basic Net Block

Workshop will cover how to take body measurements including simple adjustments using the jacket block, dart manipulation techniques to introduce methods to create style lines and designs.

For mixed abilities wanting to learn basic principles of sewing techniques of inserting sleeves. The workshop will cover knowledge of different sleeve types, how to adjust ‘cap ease’ to fit into the armhole correctly and how to set-in a sleeve with and without gathers. Please bring along your own light weight calico (1 metre), thread and pins. You can either create bodice/sleeve patterns from the studio’s size 12 block or bring along your own commercial pattern (front and back bodice and sleeve).

For experienced dressmakers wishing to learn basic draping techniques. Workshop will cover how to pin calico to your stand creating a bodice and skirt and then removing the calico to create a paper pattern. Please bring along your own dress stand, light weight calico (1 metre) and pins.
